My Private Practice Associates

In my private practice, I employ and supervise post-graduate Registered Associates who are earning hours toward independent licensure as Marriage and Family Therapists, Professional Clinical Counselors, or Clinical Social Workers.  They see clients on some days when I am not available, and their fees are generally somewhat lower than mine.

In order to help provide you with the highest quality of services, each of my Associates meets with me regularly to consult with me about their cases.  You can contact me, or contact one or more of them directly, if you are interested in meeting with them.

Current Associates:

Amina Elfiki
Registered Associate Marriage & Family Therapist #103090

I aim to create a therapeutic space that actively works to counter oppression, including racism, sexism, homophobia and queerphobia, transphobia and transmisogyny, fatphobia, ableism and classism.  I recognize that as long as these systems are in place, this work will always be aspirational and incomplete.

I have particular competencies in working with:

  • People of Color.  I am committed to having challenging, nuanced conversations on the complexities of racial, ethnic and national identities, while also centering those POC most vulnerable to violence and marginalization.  I am also particularly and personally invested in developing the discourse around mixed race identity and psychology.
  • Trans, non-binary, genderqueer and other gender non-conforming and gender diverse individuals, and their partners and families.
  • Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Queer folks.
  • Polyamorous and non-monogamous individuals, couples, families and other relationship configurations, or anyone who practices relationship anarchy.
  • Activists, organizers and others involved in social justice movements and struggles for liberation.

If you’ve always felt different, if you’ve struggled to find a place to fit, if you don’t know how to connect with those around you, if you’re overwhelmed by your own feelings, or if you want space to sit with your feelings and be heard: let’s talk.

I work long-term with individuals looking to build a meaningful, co-created relationship with a therapist who cares about them. And I work with couples, families, and small groups looking to repair, deepen, and grow their relationships with each other.

A few specific client types I love working with: Adults and older teens with autism, Aspergers, or ADHD (or those exploring the possibility of a diagnosis) * Trans, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming people (including those looking for letters for transition) * LGBQAA people * Survivors of trauma and abuse * People with eating disorders, body dysmorphia/dysphoria, or those with a stressful relationship to food * People with disabilities and chronic illnesses (including those looking for letters of accommodation) * Current or former sex workers * People on the multiplicity spectrum * Couples, moresomes, and families
