Professional Workshops


I have given dozens of workshops and clinical trainings for local, regional, national, and international organizations. My areas of expertise include:

  • Family therapy and family systems theories
  • Couple therapy, including Emotionally Focused Therapy and Gottman Method Couple Therapy
  • Sexual and gender minority (LGBTQ+) clients, including couples and families
  • Consensually non-monogamous relationships, including polyamory and “open” relationships
  • Working with clients who are part of the BDSM/kink communities
  • Taking a sexual history and addressing client sexual concerns in individual and couple therapy
  • Clinical skills for broaching issues like race, class, sexuality, disability, age, etc. in psychotherapy
  • Weight and body size as a dimension of diversity; Fat Acceptance, Health at Every Size(r), and weight-neutral approaches to body image issues
  • Creating a welcoming and inclusive organization, for clients and staff
  • Transferring clients between therapists, especially in organizations employing trainees/interns
  • Supervising pre-graduation mental health trainees in community organizations and clinics
  • Addressing issues of identity and diversity in the supervisory relationship
  • Use of video and live observation in supervision
